Hi there, welcome to Mira’s Music Studio! I’m Mira, your go-to online saxophone, flute, clarinet and music theory teacher. I can’t wait to meet you and hear about your musical goals!
Musicians who learn with me find enjoyment in musical creativity and experimentation. You will learn to play your favourite music (as well as music that is new and challenging) and get better at your instrument through technical and creative exercises. This could include improvising, scales, composing, aural, music theory, and/or active listening. These exercises always lead back into the important skills of reading and playing the music you love on your instrument.
In our lessons we will always work collaboratively to get you to where you want to be with your music. You can be guided through exams if desired, or aim for unique performance and creative goals (for example busking, family performance, video/soundtrack project, or a composition). Every lesson is planned to the students' individual needs, goals, learning style and musical preferences.
Levels on offer:
- Saxophones (alto, tenor, soprano, baritone): beginner to advanced
- Flute: beginner to intermediate
- Clarinet: beginner to intermediate
- Music theory: AMEB grade 1 to 3
All are welcome and encouraged to learn music. My teaching experience ranges from beginners to advanced with young children to retirees. Mira’s Music Studio is an inclusive space for LGBTQIA+ folk, first nations people and those with accessibility requirements or additional learning needs. You are welcome to mention, at any time, anything that can make your learning more enjoyable, effective and safe.
Check out these reviews from students:
“After deciding to play the sax after a 25 year hiatus, I found Mira and couldn’t be happier. Mira is an accomplished saxophonist and has a great ability to be patient and thorough with my learning as a beginner. I always leave our lessons with new tips and challenges to build my skills and would alternate my lessons with alto and tenor which she encouraged. I highly recommend lessons with Mira if you’re a beginner like me, or an experienced player looking for someone with a keen eye and ear to improve your playing.” - Cam W (adult learner)
“Mira taught my daughter saxophone for several years and was always extremely organised, professional and creative in her approach to teaching. We were so lucky to find her.” - Adèle S (parent)
Places are now available for online lessons. I offer free 15 minute “get to know you” sessions and various package deals. Book now to secure your preferred time!
I look forward to meeting you soon,
Mira Stephens
