Here are your key tasks: • Gear Preparation: Assist in readying and maintaining fishing equipment, including rods, reels, lines, tie fishing rigs/knots and bait, etc. • Boat Readiness: Help prepare the vessel for the charter. • Navigation Assistance: Aid the Skipper in navigating to fishing spots, anchoring including deploying and retrieving anchors. • Guest Support: Provide assistance and guidance to guests during fishing activities, including baiting hooks, casting lines, and reeling in catches. Offer tips and advice to guests, especially less experienced anglers. • Fish Handling and I.D Fish Species: Measuring, sorting and cleaning • Safety Procedures: Play a vital role in onboard safety by following protocols, monitoring weather conditions, and assisting with emergency procedures. • Clean-up and Maintenance: Clean the boat and equipment after each charter, including deck washing and gear storage, and contribute to routine maintenance tasks. • Customer Satisfaction: Provide excellent service to guests, addressing their questions and concerns, and ensuring they have a memorable and enjoyable fishing experience. In summary, as a fishing deckhand, your role is essential in ensuring a safe, enjoyable, and successful fishing trip for guests, requiring teamwork, adaptability, reliability and a strong work ethic. Qualifications & Experience • Experience as a deckhand in the fishing industry preferred but not essential. • Knowledge of fishing, fishing techniques, equipment and safety procedures. • Ability to work well in a team and adapt to various tasks. • Strong communication skills and a customer focused attitude. • First Aid/ CPR preferred.
